a childhood growing up on rock music and all its mythologies put in my head the Big Idea of “your first album” and what that means. when I became a musician that made their own work, it started to weigh on me more. after some time of pondering/worrying about it, I think I was finally able to put that aside and just make something and put it out into the world. these two pieces are built on field recordings of sounds I hear almost daily where I live. they are places and sounds that I care about. I once played one of these in front of some family, and my aunt told after that the field sounds took her back years ago when she sat on that same porch and listened to the bugs and the trains and interstate off in the distance. it was the best praise I’d ever received.
